Kathryn Blair

design portfolio

Welcome

Welcome to my portfolio site. I’m Kathryn Blair, a third-year Visual Arts student at the University of British Columbia.

This portfolio showcases my web design work, because I hope to work as a web designer after I graduate. My fine arts training has improved my design skills because of how important creativity and pushing oneself is in art, and it gives me a great insight into how to communicate through design.

I’ve taught myself the programs I use, which include Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2, and notepad ++. I love to code by hand and I also love to work with Wordpress. I know CSS and HTML very well, and can work with PHP applications. I love to learn new skills and technologies, and I like to work on challenging projects because I have to learn new things quickly. I keep up with current trends and news in web and graphic design, I am knowledgeable about web standards and cross-browser compatibility.

My recent design projects have included volunteer work for the Intestinal Disease Education and Awareness Society (IDEAS), the Arts Co-op Students’ Association at UBC, and professional work for Trigena Systems Ltd. and Discover Music Ltd. You can find more information about these and other projects in my Portfolio.
